Scotland – Bridge of Allan
1 June 2024, 10 am – 4 pm
Bridge of Allan Parish Church of Scotland, 12 Keir St, Bridge of Allan, FK9 4NW
FREE ENTRY to our exhibition and sale of fair trade textiles
Bridge of Allan has always been a special World Textile Day for us. It’s a really easy venue to get to from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. But guess what? Those textile-fanatic Scots come from as far away as The Borders, Aberdeen and Inverness. Now that’s dedication! Here are some pix of previous outings. Enjoy!
11 am : main talk
Gaynor Williams
Textile Animal Trappings: Celebration and Endurance
A fascinating look at a fascinating collection… of the textiles that are used to decorate horses, donkeys, cattle, camels and event elephants!
2 pm : two short talks
Magie Relph
A funny thing happened on the way to the market: Africa, fabrics and life on the road
Magie looks back on her career as an ‘itinerant textile trader’.
Diane Gaffney
From the Artisans of Java to the Quilters of Scotland: the story of Bali batiks
Batik expert Diane Gaffney takes you on an inspiring shopping spree to Bali.
Please note: In order to reward our speakers, we charge a modest fee for our morning and afternoon talks. Tickets on the door.
