World Textile Day Wales - 2010

An Exhibition of Costume, Creativity and Colour

You are what you wear! Where ever you go in the world, textiles and clothing are inextricably linked.

At World Textile Day 2010, hosted by the Quilt Association of Wales, we put on an extensive display of costumes from around the world. Visitors experienced an insight into how a different cultures use textiles to dress, express and, above all, impress.

Renowned textile scholar John Gillow's morning lecture - 'Costume In Africa and Asia' - was packed out, as John showed and discussed many wonderful pieces from his extensive collection.

In the afternoon, there was a change of pace, with Kimono and Japanese textile expert Susan Briscoe discussing and demonstrating 'Japanese Kimono Everyday Wear'.
